I grew up in an environment where I didn't know that cartoon and animation films meant different things, if you were lucky, perhaps you did. But for many of us, animation and cartoons referred to the same thing, and it was very difficult not to let the image of the roaring MGM lion or the opening theme of the Walt Disney Cartoon Classics float into our head, each time we heard these words.
We knew what cartoons were, how they were made, and we knew that they were the real funny stuff you could watch with your parents and siblings on Sunday mornings. Naturally, He-Man, Spiderman, Popoye, Tom and Jerry, the Disney characters, Scooby Doo, Pokemon, et al. dominated the toon landscape in my head, till I ran into this promising young illustrator and animator from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India. This girl, or rather her external hard drive chock full of movies, changed my perception of what animation was and what it could be. Though I wasn't exactly 'like some watcher of the skies, When a new planet swims into his ken', I know my emotions were comparable!
That happened almost a year and a half back, and over the period I have had the chance to watch and learn some more. It has been a while I have been wondering about a nice way of sharing what I have enjoyed the most in this area, and I felt this blog could be the answer. I would really look forward to learning much from you guys, as I am aware that my understanding of this area is rudimentary.
Finally, I would like to point out that I am NOT the owner of any of these films, and I have merely uploaded them from different sources in an effort to make these available on a common platform! Cheers!!!
